BLA alumnus featured on cover of Architectural Digest
Congratulations to CED alumnus, Christopher Cawley (BLA ’99), who has a landscape design featured as the cover story in the June 2016 issue of Architectural Digest magazine. His work on New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez’s modern, art-filled home in Coral Gables, Florida, is showcased.
Cawley, a registered landscape architect, worked with Rodriguez, Choeff Levy Fischman Architects, and Newport Property Construction to create “a verdant oasis, with stunning grounds that encourage alfresco entertaining,” according to the article.
The sophisticated landscape surrounds an 11,000-square-foot home, saving and relocating many of the trees that had to be moved during construction. Massive slabs of pitted coral stone unearthed on the site are incorporated into the new landscape, while the lawn and the area surrounding the saltwater pool are covered in artificial turf to reduce dependence on irrigation.
Complete Architectural Digest coverage of Rodriguez’s house and grounds is available online at:
An additional online feature devoted specifically to the garden is at:
Subsequent coverage of the Architectural Digest feature story appeared on websites including USA Today, People, Newsday, CBS Sports, Curbed, GQ and Glamour.
