MLA Students Tour Downtown Greenville, South Carolina

This semester the 2nd year MLA’s took a field trip to visit downtown Greenville, South Carolina. Greenville has undergone a series of downtown Master Plan designs that have worked to revitalize and activate the city center. The success of these designs has made Greenville a hallmark for Landscape Architects and Planners working on Urban Redevelopment. The class is currently working on a redesign of the downtown Athens block containing the City Hall, and their designs will seek to incorporate techniques and styles introduced to them on their visit.

Downtown Greenville incorporates numerous public spaces in a variety of scales.

A central component of the Greenville Master Plan is incorporating the scenic falls located beside the downtown as a public amenity.

Public investment into Falls Park has sparked extensive redevelopment along the Western side of the city.
