Special Naming Opportunity in 2013 with your seat in the Spotlight!
The College’s two refurbished lecture halls offer you the chance to leave a lasting legacy and play an important role in supporting the CED. Enjoy having your name, or that of a person you wish to honor, engraved on a brass plaque on the back of a seat. You can name one or more seats, or an entire row! You can even pledge your payment over a five-year time frame. When you sponsor a seat in someone’s name, we will acknowledge your gift to the recipient of your choice. Seat donations are tax- deductible as allowed by law. Seat naming requests are honored on a first-come, first-served basis. See the SEATING CHART DIAGRAM for rows and seat numbers to choose your preferred location. Seat rows and numbers are the same for both of the lecture halls. The Lecture Halls themselves may be also named, as well as other rooms and spaces within the College. There are three ways to make a donation for this special naming opportunity:

A degree from UGA's College of Environment and Design can shape a student's life into a work of art, and your gifts are that impetus. For years our renowned graduate, undergraduate and certificate programs have worked creatively to educate our students in ways that give back to the State of Georgia and beyond by supporting student community projects, faculty research, and numerous outreach programs. From the Nanjing Forestry University in China where we share student collaborations, to the Costa Rica Eco Campus where our students can now study for an entire semester, our design students are exploring a broader world and gaining and deeper understanding of the human landscape. Invaluable experiences are also continued with travel to Cortona, Italy and Croatia, as well as to various intricate natural ecosystems of the American South - all of which are made possible by your support. We are so fortunate and so appreciative. As alumni and friends of our College, we certainly hope you share in our pride for cultivating talented, passionate, imaginative students, and for maintaining a diverse, innovative and respected faculty. It is only with your gifts and contributions that we can succeed, and we hope you'll continue to share as generously as you can and honor us with continuing the tradition of distinction and public service that we are known for. In the compelling words of Winston Churchill: "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Thank you for your support. |
With over 400 students enrolled in our College annually, and spanning four programs of study, our CED endowed scholarships provide some financial assistance to only 10% of the student body each year. The State provides less than 26% in funding to UGA annually, which means after tuition we must raise over 70% of funding each year through private contributions and support. |

Founders Memorial Garden Endowment |
|

|
The history of the Founders Memorial Garden & House is rich in details spanning over 150 years. However, the Garden, which was designed in 1939, is approaching its 75th birthday. To commemorate this anniversary, as well as to develop a legacy fund to perpetually maintain this important historical site, the College of Environment & Design is seeking support for the Founders Memorial Garden Endowment. Our goal is to raise $1.5 million by the end of 2014. Our Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Garden will take place in May 2014. The House was the first recorded address on Lumpkin Street, and the Garden surrounding the House is a series of memorial spaces, initially conceived and created to honor the twelve founders of the Ladies’ Garden Club of Athens — the first garden club established in America. Today, the Garden exists as a true icon of the garden club movement, and although the Garden Club of Georgia relocated its official headquarters from the house to the State Botanical Garden in 1998, we at the College aim to keep this nationally registered historic landscape and its buildings intact and utilized as a teaching garden, arboretum, educational and passive event space for all to enjoy. We need and appreciate your support, so please consider making a gift in seeing this crucial endowment fulfilled, and this national treasure preserved. For more information about the Founders Memorial Garden & House, please visit its section of our website. |
The College of Environment & Design is grateful to alumnus Bruce Gregory, BLA '57, for his initiative and generosity in helping us to restore the cherub and goose fountain in the north section of the Founders Memorial Garden. This WWII memorial fountain sculpture was recreated by artist Jean Westmacott, wife of professor Richard Westmacott. The new fountain was installed and dedicated at a ceremony on November 7, 2010, during UGA's Homecoming festivities. |
