Ways of Giving

Private gifts and donations are deeply appreciated in support of the initiatives and needs of the College. Gifts may come from individuals, foundations and corporations. Contributions can be made through various means:

  1. Annual Fund Gifts:
    • Any size. These may be in response to a solicitation campaign, mailer, or other specific fundraising initiative for the College. Gifts may also be pledged or re-occurring over a span of multiple years.
    • Annual gifts to the College should not be confused with solicitations made by UGA for the university’s general Georgia Fund. Gifts made to the Georgia Fund assist UGA’s initiatives, apart from CED.
    • Gifts can be made at any time via UGA online systems, sending in check or credit with donation remittance, or by calling the Development Office.
    • Online giving offers a variety of funds to support CED directly. Should you not find the name of a fund you are interested in contributing to on the system of drop down choices, please contact the Development Office for assistance. For a full list of funds, please refer to the CED Scholarships, Professorships and Support page on this website.
  2. Matching Gifts:

    • Corporations may match charitable gifts made by their employees, board members, retirees, etc. Gift matches are encouraged through annual promotions and online systems, but do have standards or limits. A list of corporations who have matching grant programs along with other information about matching gifts is available online.
  3. Will or Estate plans:

    • Gifts which are designated through wills or estate planning are usually more substantial than traditional gifts or donations. As such, these gifts are often crafted years in advance to properly contemplate options, designate utility and purpose, and prepare for perpetual recognition.
    • Simply naming UGA or the College beneficiaries is not accurate enough for the proper management of the gift in perpetuity. Will language is recommended to include a form of the following: “I give, devise, and bequeath to THE ARCH FOUNDATION FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA, INC., a non-profit corporation duly existing under the laws of the State of Georgia and located at Athens, Clarke County, Georgia, __(percent of estate or amount), to be used (insert your intended purpose) at the College of Environment and Design.“
    • If you wish to plan or prepare for gift by Will, please contact the Director of Development as there are several tax advantage options to consider. For more information on Planned Giving please see this webpage
