CED Alumni recognized for professional achievements

Two outstanding alumni have been recognized by the College of Environment & Design for their achievements and support after graduation. At the annual Alumni Weekend honors dinner April 18th, Jan Solomon VandenBulck (BLA ’62) was presented the Dean’s Award of Honor, and Leerie Jenkins, FASLA (BLA ’70) received the Distinguished Alumni Medal.
Athens recognized as a distinctive historic destination

Every year, the National Trust for Historic Preservation highlights 12 vacation destinations across the United States for their dynamic downtowns, attractive architecture, cultural landscapes and a strong commitment to historic preservation and revitalization. In 2009, the city of Athens, Georgia — where UGA is located — was selected as one of the Dozen Distinctive Destinations.
MLA students create video inventory of community

(video) Landscape Architect & Specifier News magazine recently featured an article on a film created by MLA students Jacob Lange, Jordan Bates, and Brady Richards. The film was created as a component of a class-wide project for LAND 6030 Nature and Sustainability Studio under Professor Alfie Vick.
Dean Dan Nadenicek receives Outstanding Administrator Award

Athens, Ga. – The Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture recently honored Daniel J. Nadenicek, dean of the UGA College of Environment and Design, with the CELA Outstanding Administrator Award at their 2009 conference.
CED receives top national rankings

The University of Georgia College of Environment and Design’s landscape architecture programs again received top national rankings. The bachelor’s program was ranked first in the nation, and the master’s program was ranked second in the 2009 edition of America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools.
UGA Senior Receives Feighner Award

Senior Sanna Barrineau is the recipient of the 2007 Feighner Award given for the Outstanding Undergraduate Environmental Ethics Certificate Paper.
Masters of Historic Preservation Students Receive Grant

For the fourth consecutive year, UGA Masters of Historic Preservation students have received a Keepers Preservation Education Fund (KPEF) fellowship grant to attend the 2008 National Trust for Historic Preservation Conference.
Daniel Nadenicek named dean of College of Environment and Design

Daniel J. Nadenicek, chair of the department of planning and landscape architecture at Clemson University, will be the new dean of the University of Georgia College of Environment and Design, effective Aug. 15.
