FindIt! Survey Program
FindIt! is a cultural resource survey program sponsored by the Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC). FindIt! was created to help preserve and document cultural resources throughout the state. It is important to know where historic resources are located so that this information can simultaneously facilitate their protection and serve as a step in the preservation planning process. The FindIt! program will cover all counties in the state on a need-by-need basis.
The Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC) has created a partnership that involves the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Historic Preservation Division (SHPO), and the University of Georgia’s College of Environment and Design (UGA, CED). The survey work will be conducted by Historic Preservation graduate students in of the UGA College of Environment and Design. All survey records and general information will be housed within the School of Environmental Design’s Center for Community Design and Preservation (CCDP). The data will also be sent to the GA SHPO to become part of the inventory of identified historic properties.
