Costa Rica

The Landscape Architecture Program in Costa Rica is designed to provide a hands-on field studio experience where participants will engage design opportunities at the UGA Costa Rica Campus and other locations in the community of San Luis, and at the EARTH University campus in Guanacaste. Students will study a privately-owned sustainable farm and hotel operation on the shores of Lake Arenal, will study how Costa Rica’s National Biodiversity Institute established an extensive environmental education and demonstration park, and explore many of the notable landscape architecture features in the capital city, San José. The program also includes time at the Pacific coast as well as opportunities to explore Costa Rica independently. Students are based at UGA’s campus at the head of the San Luis Valley adjacent to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve. The campus is high enough in elevation to offer a temperate climate year-round.
