MHP Advisement

All MHP students consult with the program coordinator to discuss program requirements and schedule preparation on the first day of orientation activities. The dates and times for next semester’s preregistration are posted each semester; students should arrange consultations with the program coordinator according to these posted instructions. Students will not be cleared for OASIS registration until advised by the program coordinator.
In the week prior to the beginning of fall semester classes, orientation for new graduate students is held over a four-day period. This includes advisement, registration, and other activities. Individual advisement occurs on the first day, and registration should be completed on the second day.
Changes in schedule may be made during the first few days of the semester (“drop/add”). Drop/add dates are posted by the Office of the Registrar—scroll down to the semester of interest, then click “registration dates” to see the schedule. Graduate students are generally offered a longer drop/add period than undergraduates.
All course registration and preregistration is handled online by the student through OASIS (On-Line Access to the Student Information System). During registration periods, OASIS is available from 7 a.m. to 12 midnight seven days a week. For assistance or information, call the OASIS help desk at 706-542-6911 during normal operating hours.
Transfer of Credit
If graduate work taken at an accredited institution forms a logical part of a student’s program, transfer of credit may be allowed if recommended by the program coordinator and approved by the dean of the graduate school. A request for transfer of credit may be obtained from the graduate secretary. Students must provide official transcripts, and a transfer of credit cannot exceed six semester hours and cannot reduce residence requirements. No grade below 3.0 may be transferred. Transfer grades are not used in calculating semester and cumulative averages. All requrests must be completed and turned in to the graduate school at least 30 days prior to the date the student expects to graduate.
