Colleague, friend and mentor Dick Wiegert died Monday,
November 4, 2002 at the age of 70 after a long illness. Dick was a faculty
member of the zoology and ecology departments, and most recently was a
professor with the School
of Marine Programs. His tenure at the University of Georgia spanned
over 40 years. Wiegert grew up on a farm in Lenawee County, Michigan, served in the army from 1954-1956, and earned his PhD from the University of Michigan in 1962. Survivors include his wife, Liz McGhee, two daughters, Lisa and Karla, and five grandchildren.
