Maureen Curtis

Student Ambassador

Hello, my name is Maureen Curtis and I’m a 4th year student in the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program at UGA. I’m excited to be a College of Environment + Design Ambassador for my second year. I feel lucky to have found the BLA program early on in my college career. I took a Freshman Odyssey class with Professor Brad Davis which focused on perspective drawing of our beautiful landscape here on campus and the importance of using native plants. I changed my major from Art History to Landscape Architecture that first semester and I have never looked back!

Landscape Architecture Interests: I’m most interested in the overlap between Public Health and Landscape Architecture. I love learning about how our built environment influences our health and ideally I would love to design public spaces that positively impact the health of those that use the space. I think that good design should marry these 2 vital parts of life; humans and the environment.

Personal Interests: In the meantime, I’m a full time student, part time Barista at Jittery Joes, CE+D Student Ambassador and Secretary of UGA Students for Environmental Action. I enjoy making coffee, hiking, reading too many books at one time and forever exploring my wonderful hometown of Athens, Georgia.
